Your First Acupuncture Visit: What to Know
Your First Acupuncture Visit
Your first session is designed to understand your full health picture — not just the symptom that brought you in.
Before You Arrive
Wear comfortable clothing and enjoy a light meal beforehand.
When You Arrive
Check in, settle into the space and have a few moments to relax before your session begins.
How We Begin
We start with a comprehensive health intake. This includes:
• Your main concern
• Medical history and individual health patterns
This helps us determine the root of what is happening.
The Treatment Approach
Your treatment includes acupuncture and — when appropriate — supportive therapies such as dry needling, cupping, gua sha, electro-stim and red light therapy.
What Happens During Treatment
After reviewing your health history, we walk you through the plan.
Once the needles are placed:
• You’ll rest comfortably for 20–30 minutes
• Many patients feel deeply relaxed — some fall asleep
After Treatment
You may notice:
• Relaxation
• Decreased tension
• Reduced pain
All are typical initial responses.
At Home
Drink water and keep your schedule gentle if possible.
Notice how your body responds over the next 24–48 hours.
Ongoing Care
Acupuncture works best as a process — not a one-time event.
We’ll guide you on frequency based on your goals and condition.
